SD INOX Electropulidos

This is when what is commonly called stainless steel seems to cease to be stainless, at least partially. These are the points where pitting or crevice corrosion begins, while the rest of the surface remains intact.

PICKLING + PASSIVATING

The way to restore the material to optimal condition is to subject it to a degreasing and pickling process to eliminate all the disturbing agents that prevent the formation of the proper protective layer, finishing it with a final passivation.

This solution will have been fast, uniform, safe, inexpensive, and free of surface roughness (a typical problem with mechanical methods such as grinding, polishing, or blasting). Thus, the part is prepared to offer its best version, according to the conditions that inspired its design.

ELECTROPOLISHING

Electropolishing works by applying a direct electric current to an appropriate electrolyte, which polishes the metal’s surface. The depth of the treatment can be controlled, and the surface is smoothed, improving ease of cleaning in use and suitability for food or pharmaceutical applications. This process also increases corrosion resistance due to the surface enrichment with chromium.

SD INOX ELECTROPULIDO performs these treatments on duplex and super-duplex stainless steel parts (including large ones) in its own facilities and with expert mastery of the technique to achieve optimal results.
