Trumpf acquires Basque technology company Lantek to expand its software business
“With this acquisition, Trumpf is opening up to its customers’ production ecosystems,” says Tom Schneider, General Manager of Machine Tool Development at the German firm. “Our goal is to improve our customers’ production processes: with Lantek, we fully cover the sheet metal and metal processing chain, including machines from different manufacturers. In this way, we are taking another major step toward efficient and connected production and completing our Smart Factory solutions offering.”
After participating in the development of Umati, the open machine data interface, the development of Omlox, the open standard for plant location, and the cooperation with Jungheinrich on autonomous logistics vehicles, the collaboration with Lantek is a key step forward towards process optimization and machine connectivity for sheet metal and metal processing.
