About us
CiTin – Centro de Interface Tecnológico Industrial
Advancing Human-Centric Manufacturing
CiTin is a private, non-profit technology and innovation centre based in Arcos de Valdevez, in northern Portugal. We help industrial companies solve real production challenges through applied R&D, technology transfer and advanced training.
Our work follows the Industry 5.0 vision: manufacturing where people and machines cooperate. We combine automation, collaborative and humanoid robotics, artificial intelligence and industrial data to build production systems that are more efficient, more flexible, more sustainable, and designed around the people who operate them.
What we offer to industry:
* Applied R&D&I, either through co-funded collaborative projects or as contracted services for companies
* Technology watch and intelligence to anticipate technological and market changes
* Prototyping, pilot implementation and technology transfer, from concept to the shop floor
* Advanced training and specialisation for engineers and technical staff
Areas of expertise:
* Advanced Production Systems: automation and mechatronics, collaborative robotics, humanoid robotics, human-machine interaction, flexible manufacturing
* Cyber-Physical Systems: industrial computing, artificial intelligence and computer vision, big data and IIoT, embedded systems
* Mobility and Environment: automotive components, new materials, circular economy, eco-innovation
With 26 associates, a multidisciplinary team and more than 53 scientific publications, CiTin bridges research and industry, working with national and European partners.

DIGI-COLLAB - Digital Production System Workflow
The DIGI-COLLAB provide an advanced Digital Twin platform at the process level, integrating cognitive support for optimizing collaboration across various stakeholders, including person-to-person, machine-to-person, and system information-to-person interactions. By combining process orchestration, workflow choreography, and data analysis, this project seeks to foster seamless, real-time collaboration for enhanced decision-making, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency. Key Features: Digital Twin for Process & Collaboration: Creates a real-time digital replica of physical processes to facilitate optimized collaboration and process management. Person-to-Person Collaboration: Enhances team dynamics and knowledge sharing, supporting efficient communication and decision-making among workers. Machine-to-Person Collaboration: Integrates machine data with human activities to enable effective human-machine interaction, improving productivity and safety. System Information-to-Person: Streams relevant system data to personnel, providing actionable insights to make informed decisions during operations. Process Orchestration & Workflow Choreography: Coordinates and automates workflows across various entities to ensure smooth, synchronized operations. Live Data Analysis: Leverages real-time analytics to continuously evaluate performance and guide decision-making, ensuring optimal process outcomes. Digital Obeya: Implements a virtual collaborative space (Digital Obeya) that visualizes key performance indicators, real-time analytics, and process metrics for all involved stakeholders to enhance collaborative problem-solving and decision-making. DIGI-COLLAB aims to enhance process efficiency, foster better collaboration, and support cognitive decision-making, driving digital transformation and continuous operational improvement.

Ergosafe5.0 - Digital Ergonomics in Industry 5.0
ErgoSafe MS – Biomechanical Data Monitoring and Analysis The ErgoSafe-MS project aims to develop a new version of the ErgoSafe system based on a microservice architecture, ensuring modularity, scalability, and maintainability. Each microservice will be designed with a single responsibility, enhancing system flexibility and efficiency. Key components of the system include: Video Streaming Service: Captures and streams real-time video from cameras. Data Extraction Service: Processes video feeds using MediaPipe to extract key ergonomic data. Ergonomic Analysis Service: Analyzes extracted data to assess ergonomic risks and provide insights. Visualization Service: Plots ergonomic analysis results on an interactive dashboard for real-time monitoring and decision-making. Security & Privacy Service: Ensures authentication, anonymization, and secure data handling, protecting sensitive user information and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. By leveraging microservices, ErgoSafe-MS enables seamless integration, independent scaling of services, and efficient processing of ergonomic assessments, making workplace safety analysis more robust, secure, and responsive.
