additiv medical
The second edition of ADDITIV Medical took place last Tuesday 28th March. Today we want to share a summary and some of the key figures of this hybrid meeting. With more than 700 registered participants and 24 speakers, it is clear that additive manufacturing has great potential for growth in the medical and dental sector. The good results of ADDITIV Medical have highlighted the continuing importance of virtual events and the growing need to meet face-to-face with industry professionals. professionals in the sector. On the one hand, during the virtual day, we enjoyed 3 conferences and 3 very interesting workshops thanks to the professionals who accompanied us and gave us their vision on the different topics of application in the medical and dental sector. The first conference of the day was about “3D printing of medical devices: From the prototype to the final piece”, moderated by Carlos Atienza (IBV) and counted with professionals from Avinent, the Spanish Society of Electromedicine and Clinical Engineering, and ISABIAL. After this panel, we enjoyed a workshop presented by Arnau Valls, from the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, on additive manufacturing in clinical simulation and medical training. Later, the second conference took place, entitled: “The work processes of additive manufacturing thanks to medical and dental imaging”. Moderated by Eric Barreda (ICS Terres de l’Ebre) the talk was led by speakers from the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre, Excelencia-Tech and the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. After this, we had the second ADDITIV Medical workshop, offered by Ivana Llobet, which dealt with the topic “Odapt: Transforming the experience of ostomy pouches with 3D printing”. The third and last panel was moderated by Pamela Lustig (Leitat), and featured professionals from large organisations such as IBEC, Althaia and Galician Medical Manufacturing, who shared their knowledge on the topic: “The role of 3D printing in the fight against cancer”. The third and last virtual workshop dealt with the consolidation of a central engineering and 3D printing service in the hospital environment, and was presented by María Gloria Álvarez, from SIMIM3D. ADDITIV Medical also had a physical section that took place at DFactory Barcelona and started with two interesting workshops. The first one was offered by Optimus3D, with the title: “Advantages of additive manufacturing in the medical industry”. The second one was led by the team of Excelencia-Tech and the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu on a “Use case of surgical planning with multi-material 3D printing”. After both presentations, the attendees of the physical event were able to enjoy a panel that answered the question: “What is the regulatory framework for medical 3D printing in Spain? “with the participation of Magí Galindo (IAM3DHUB) as moderator, Anna Cortina (Fenin/Avinent), Ferrán Fillat (Parc Taulí) and Felip Fenollosa (CIBE). Felip Fenollosa (CIM/UPC). After sharing knowledge about the current state of additive manufacturing in the hospital field, it was time to engage in conversations with all the attendees and visit DFactory’s laboratories, a very exciting physical day! Really positive feedback Overall, we can conclude that the ADDITIV Medical attendees were more than satisfied. Regarding the value of the event for the industry, Pepe commented: “The event was highly attractive. It has been an approach to cutting-edge materials and technologies. It has allowed me to establish contact with suppliers and professionals that will surely be very useful”. . We also appreciated the value of hybrid events, which is really important as it encourages interaction between people, wherever they are. Another user closed in a more general way with the following opinion: “I think it is extraordinary the synergies that can be created by hybrid events. extraordinary the synergies that can be generated in an event of this calibre” . And given that so many participants were satisfied with the fair, we will have to start preparing for the third edition of ADDITIV Medical. See you soon!
