80 years of innovation, 80 years of technology, 80 years of Fronius
Fronius turns 80.
Founded in 1945 as a small workshop specializing in the repair of radios and electrical equipment, this Austrian family business is now a global leader in the industry, whose history has always been characterized by team spirit and perseverance.
It all began on June 20, 1945, when Günter Fronius officially announced that he would offer maintenance services for radios and electrical equipment in the basement of a boarding house. Shortly after, the electrical engineer had a revolutionary idea: he developed a device that could recharge car batteries and extend their lifespan. The first Fronius product was very well received, and innovative chargers for industrial applications, such as forklift batteries, followed. But their success story had only just begun.
"Considering the circumstances of the time, our beginnings were characterized by a spirit of innovation, boldness, and collaboration. The scarcity of resources sparked my grandfather's ingenuity and allowed him to make the most of what he had at his disposal, creating repairable products that were affordable for a large part of the population," says Elisabeth Engelbrechtsmüller-Strauss, CEO of Fronius and granddaughter of the company's founder.
