Madrid, April 28, 2020. PPE, an acronym for Personal Protective Equipment, is a term previously unfamiliar to most citizens that, as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19, is gaining increasing attention. As the virus spreads, the importance of worker protection has become more evident than ever, making the use of PPE essential to curb the spread.
Thus, currently one of the most pressing priorities for ensuring safety in the workplace is the supply of protective equipment, both from public administrations and non-profit organizations. Numerous organizations are heeding this call, such as Farmamundi, which has supplied nine tons of PPE to various social organizations and humanitarian actors.
Promoting worker safety and health has been a constant concern for decades. In fact, Article 17 of Law 31/1995 on the Prevention of Occupational Risks establishes that employers must adopt the necessary measures to ensure that work equipment is appropriate for the activity being performed.
MetalMadrid, the leading industrial innovation event to be held at IFEMA this fall, will host around 700 exhibiting brands and approximately 13,000 professional visitors. PPE will be well represented at this edition with the participation of Hoffmann Group, Industrias Murtra, Kemper Ibérica, Solter Soldadura, Dacar Comercialización, and Suministros Guría, among others. These companies produce and distribute materials to ensure workplace safety and will present the most innovative solutions applied to different sectors at this forum.
“Protecting people means securing investments,” emphasizes Hoffmann Group, Gold Sponsor of MetalMadrid, a company with more than 100 years of history specializing in tools to enhance workplace safety, such as, especially now, respiratory protection masks, gloves, coveralls, hand sanitizer gel, and dispensers, among many others.
Suministros Guría, a veteran exhibitor at the fair, has stood out in recent weeks for its offering of 3M masks, a pioneering brand in respiratory protection equipment designed to provide comfort and ergonomics for workers while using PPE.
Similarly, the Murtra Group’s Industrial Division is working to provide technical responses to the demands of the industry. They are dedicated to the design, development, production, and marketing of accessories, technical straps, and slings for lifting and securing loads.
For its part, Kemper Ibérica, a leader in the metal welding fume extraction technology sector, will showcase cutting-edge projects at MetalMadrid, such as its SmartFil, which protects workers from the mixture of metal fumes and gases, which are sometimes carcinogenic. It will also reveal the challenges that air purification technology has faced during the current crisis. Kemper Ibérica has product offerings that can even reduce the spread of COVID-19, such as its KemTex® ePTFE filter cartridges, which trap the virus, thus preventing its spread throughout the workplace.
Dacar Comercialización, founded in 1992 and one of the leading specialists in occupational safety and protection, offers PPE manufactured in-house or imported from leading companies in the sector, and will showcase this at the 13th MetalMadrid.
All of these companies are leading exponents in the industrial sector and their extensive experience has allowed them to specialize in the area of worker protection. MetalMadrid and Composites Spain will thus provide a showcase for sharing their best practices and success stories related to PPE manufacturing.
