Real Madrid has selected Acerinox stainless steel to clad both the façade and roof of the new Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

The Acerinox Europa plant (Los Barrios, Cádiz) will be responsible for producing the material that will cover the stadium, one of the most iconic buildings in the world of sport, located in a privileged location in the capital, Paseo de la Castellana.

The façade of the new stadium will shine thanks to the stainless steel finish, which will give it a unique design, allowing it to project images and offer lighting effects. For this project, Acerinox has developed new finishes that reduce sunlight reflection on users, vehicles, and surrounding buildings.

Acerinox will also supply the steel for the stadium’s movable roof, which will consist of a fixed section and a retractable section, the latter positioned above the playing field. Thus, it will be able to open (in just 15 minutes) or close depending on the needs and the activities taking place, allowing it to host a wider variety of events.

The new roof is a commitment to environmental sustainability, given the choice of stainless steel, a 100% recyclable material and an example of the circular economy, while also reducing noise and light pollution.
