High-speed, high-capacity 5-axis vertical machining center

Matsuura Machinery Corporation has developed a new high-speed, high-capacity 5-axis vertical machining center, called the MAM72-52V.

Matsuura Machinery Corporation ha desarrollado un nuevo centro de mecanizado vertical de 5 ejes de alta velocidad y gran capacidad, llamado MAM72-52V.

The MAM72 series (with thousands of machines successfully operating worldwide since its debut in 1991) originated the concept of the turret pallet system and remains unrivaled in the market.

Process integration, complex 5-axis machining and versatile functionality in all machining environments, variable volume and part production, and reliable, extended unattended operation are standard features of the MAM72 series.

Our many decades of experience and expertise in unattended machining performance have culminated in the creation of the MAM72-52V, designed to handle larger part sizes than our existing models, deliver faster turnaround times, and deliver even greater productivity to meet customers’ ever-changing business requirements for ever-faster cycle times and improved cost performance.

With the MAM72-52, the maximum workpiece size is 520 mm (D) x 400 mm (H) with a load capacity of 300 kg (660 lbs) per pallet: a 23% increase in diameter, a 50% increase in weight, and a 75% increase in volume compared to existing models.

In addition, the newly developed 4th/5th axis table equipped with direct drive motors achieves rapid traverse speeds of 50 min-1 and 100 min-1 respectively, providing high speed and high precision in a single machine. A revised machine structure ensures improved accessibility and easy adjustment, as the distance from the front of the machine (oil container end) to the center of the pallet is reduced to 564 mm (22.4 in) and to the center of the spindle, to 134 mm (5.3 in).

The MAM72-52V is an all-in-one machine that provides variable-volume, variable-part production and extended unattended operation. It features a matrix tool magazine (130 tools/300-tool magazine base), a turret pallet system (PC15), and a chip removal system (spiral chip conveyor, overhead chip conveyor) as standard equipment. Additionally, to address recent IoT trends, an optional feature is available to send machine operating data to a central system using a communication protocol called “MTConnect” designed for machine tools.

Matsuura machines have been appreciated for 20 years for their attractive two-tone design of navy and light blue. This time, we have added a hint of silver, evoking a futuristic image, resulting in a sleek and sophisticated design. This new design expresses our passion for “Monozukuri” manufacturing technologies, and our commitment to progress and logic for the future.
