About us
AIN is a private Research Center located in the North of Spain, focused on the development of advanced materials and surface engineering.
With more than 35 years of experience in applied research and development of surface treatments, the Surface Technology group of AIN accompanies the industry carrying out technological developments through R&D projects. Due to the extensive knowledge on materials, manufacturing processes and specialization in surface technologies, this group works for sectors as varied as automotive, metal-mechanic, cutting and deformation tool, energy, biomaterials, paper, ceramic, aeronautical or aerospace, among others.
The main research lines are:
- Coatings for tribology-protection: specialization in advanced coatings using vacuum technologies for high-value tools and other mechanical components. Mechanical and service behavior characterization (behavior against corrosion, wear resistance, surface properties).
- Functional coatings: Line aimed at obtaining surfaces of materials with multifunctional properties, such as special decorative applications, biocidal, thermo-emissive, high-reflectivity or osseointegration-capable surfaces, among others.
