3R technology (patented in 2014) develops more competitive and sustainable thermoset composite materials thanks to the reprocessability, repairability, and recyclability (3R) properties that this technology incorporates. Since 2014, CIDETEC has continued researching and working on this technology through numerous European and industrial research projects with companies from different sectors (primarily automotive, wind energy, railways, and aeronautics).
This work bore fruit this Thursday, November 12th, with the presentation of the second AVK Innovation Award by the German association AVK. The ceremony, normally held in Stuttgart as part of Composites Europe, was held online this year due to circumstances arising from the pandemic.
The main innovation that 3R composites bring to the thermoset composites sector is an increase in both their competitiveness (reduced production and maintenance costs) and their sustainability (they are repairable and recyclable), addressing two of the greatest challenges facing the thermoset composites industry.
This material has a place in all sectors and applications where epoxy matrix composites are used (aeronautics, automotive, railways, wind power, etc.).
This award recognizes the highly innovative work of Cidetec Surface Engineering, which, through the development of this technology, is enabling the thermoset composites industry to become more competitive and sustainable.
