Progressive Tolerance Compensation Manual Compensation: This tolerance compensation system is threaded into the receiving part to a defined position. During the installation process, the component's tolerances are compensated (zero tolerance when the component is delivered from the factory). Further adjustment is then possible during assembly. When the joint is released, the defined position is maintained. Automatic Compensation: Two components are oriented or positioned relative to each other. When they are threaded together, the gap between the two parts is automatically compensated. The tolerance compensation system maintains the initial alignment position. When the joint is released, the system returns to the initial position. Efficient Production: The use of FLEXITOL® tolerance compensation systems allows for tighter production tolerances, ensuring more efficient production methods.

It is only necessary to geometrically adapt the injection mold inserts to the IMTEC® threaded inserts.

A wide range of riveting tools – from pneumatic to hydraulic – are available for installing HUCK® structural rivets and collar rivets. The choice of the most suitable riveting tool depends on the type and diameter of the rivet, as well as the accessibility of the application. In most cases, HUCK® riveting tools can be used for both collar and structural rivets; only the nozzle needs to be changed. Procedure/Principle: After placing the structural rivet in the housing, the riveting tool is activated, and the deformation of the rivet's blind end begins. Due to the generated tension, the shank will break. For collar rivets, once the shank and collar are in place and the tool has started, the nozzle presses the collar against the parts to be joined, performing the first stage of the fastening process. In the medium and long term, direct threading with metal screws into plastic parts leads to problems with the fit or the screw connection itself, due to movement, vibration, and temperature changes. When working with plastic components, it makes more sense to use plastic screws. The solution, in this case, is to use our K' in K' plastic fasteners (from the German "Kunststoff in Kunststoff," meaning "plastic in plastic"). K' in K' plastic screws and plastic inserts utilize a patented thread geometry that is easily identified by two offset half-threads. The K' in K' thread self-forms or self-taps a receiving thread within the pre-made cylindrical or conical plastic housing. A chip-receiving groove running the entire length of the plastic screw allows for optimal threading and tapping without blocking the thread flanks. Thanks to the resulting rake angle and the adjacent free angle, the thread penetrates the material with a reduced tightening torque during threading. However, when unscrewing these plastic screws or fasteners, a significantly higher tightening torque is required, ensuring that the fastener is reliably secured against accidental loosening or detachment.

Even today, the most widely used fastener remains the screw. Highly developed high-strength screws reduce the size or number of screws required. However, only high-strength threads can achieve durable and robust connections. For over 65 years, HELICOIL® has been used in these applications: a flagship product that continues to lead the market and remain at the forefront of fastening technology. These threads are manufactured from a rhomboid-profiled wire with an elastic spiral shape. These inserted threads create highly precise threads that are resistant to wear, stress, high temperatures, and corrosion, while minimizing friction with tight tolerances. HELICOIL® is installed similarly to a screw, but the reinforced threading technique enhances strength and allows for the repair of damaged threads. Furthermore, HELICOIL® ensures uniform load and stress distribution, and we offer numerous variations to guarantee the most suitable solution for a wide range of requirements. One of its variants, HELICOIL® Plus, was created for use in high-temperature environments, such as printing presses and joints subject to frequent disassembly, but also for repairs and maintenance. WELTAC® is a new development from Böllhoff that utilizes resistance welding technology and facilitates the joining of lightweight materials to steels of any type. The WELTAC® system is a flexible technology that meets today's demanding requirements for joint strength, especially in the automotive sector, as it enables the creation of mechanically strong joints ideal for body production processes. Until now, resistance spot welding processes could not create joints between dissimilar materials in vehicle bodies because these materials were thermally incompatible or only partially compatible. This technology, a further development of resistance spot welding technologies, opens up the possibility of using existing equipment in production plants to create high-strength joints between materials of different thicknesses and grades, even with hot-formed steel. In this process, a rivet-like element, made of a material compatible with the base sheet, is used as the joining element. The first stage of the process consists of inserting the WELTAC® welding element until it pierces the upper sheet of material; then this piece is welded to the lower steel sheet.

Furthermore, the edges of the teeth are not sharp, which guarantees greater protection against corrosion at the joint, as the contact surface is not damaged.

The innovative HELICOIL® Smart technology represents a further advancement in Böllhoff's HELICOIL® threading technology. The novelty lies in its threaded insert with a built-in guide that doesn't require breaking. This intelligent insert combines the advantages of HELICOIL® Plus and HELICOIL® Tangfree. It's a fastening solution with a guide, but without one: there's no need to break or remove it, and no risk of the guide remaining in the component. The HELICOIL® Smart thread creates high-strength threads by transferring forces from side to side in the receiving thread. Made with a rhombic profile thread, it also forms an elastic spiral. In its Free Running version, it runs freely, turning each turn to create a perfectly calibrated internal female thread that can be used from either side. Creating the thread simply requires the Smart setting tool, which is about the size of a tap. The most innovative feature is the ability to control the cutting blade position. When screwed in, the blade acts as a pusher, and when unscrewed, it transforms into a compression and bending tool. In other words, it's a dual-function placement rod. The HELICOIL® Smart placement process is fully automated and very easy to use, yet delivers highly accurate results. It's a highly efficient system that reduces assembly time by approximately 20%, and has the advantage that the fastener and placement device are from the same supplier. RIVKLE® rivet nut crimping tools are primarily used for blind setting of rivet nuts and bolts. To ensure optimal performance, Böllhoff offers a wide range of rivet nut crimping tools: manual and automatic. A properly set RIVKLE® rivet nut maintains all its mechanical properties. Ensuring correct rivet nut setting is achieved by adhering to the setting parameters. There are two setting methods: force-based and stroke-based. For force-based setting, consult the technical information for guidelines and use the appropriate RIVKLE® rivet nut or bolt to achieve optimal riveting. This method offers the advantage of being quick and easy. With stroke-based setting, the riveting force is regulated independently of the workpiece thickness.
